There is significant good news for private-sector retirees in Pakistan. The federal government has officially implemented the long-awaited increase in the EOBI (Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution) pension to help senior citizens manage the rising cost of living.

The minimum pension has been raised, and new legal rulings have made it easier for workers to qualify.

Official EOBI Pension Rates 2026

The 2026 cycle brings a tiered increase based on your contribution history and the new government floor:

Landmark “14.5 Year” Service Rule

One of the biggest updates in 2026 is a major decision by the Federal Constitutional Court (FCC).

  • The Rule: Previously, a worker was strictly required to complete 15 years of service to qualify for a pension.
  • The Update: Under the “rounding-off” principle, workers who have completed 14 years and 6 months (14.5 years) of service are now legally deemed to have completed 15 years.
  • Impact: Thousands of workers who were previously rejected due to a few months’ shortfall are now eligible for the lifetime monthly pension of Rs. 11,500.

Eligibility Requirements (2026)

To claim the increased pension, you must meet these updated standards:

  • Age: 60 years for men; 55 years for women and mine workers.
  • Contribution: Minimum 15 years (or 14.5 years per the new ruling) of insured employment.
  • Employer Status: Your company must be registered with EOBI and have paid your monthly shares.
  • Invalidity: If a worker becomes disabled during service, they may qualify for an “Invalidity Pension” after only 5 years of contributions.

How to Verify Your Increased Pension Online

You can now track your payments and registration status using your CNIC:

  1. Visit the Portal: Go to the EOBI Facilitation System.
  2. Individual Information: Click on the “Individual Information” or “Insured Person Tracking” tab.
  3. Enter CNIC: Type your 13-digit CNIC (without dashes).
  4. View Status: The system will show your “Active” status and the latest payment amount credited to your Bank Alfalah EOBI wallet or card.

Mandatory Biometric Verification

To ensure continuous payment, all pensioners must undergo biometric verification twice a year (typically in March and September).

  • Where to go: Visit any branch of Bank of Punjab (BOP) or an authorized HBL Konnect agent.
  • Required: Bring your original CNIC and your EOBI pension card.

Note: If your pension is delayed beyond the 5th of the month, first check your “Life Certificate” status on the portal; most delays are caused by missing the biometric deadline.
